April 27 this morning Dennis looked and acted more like his old self but yesterday he was confused a lot of where he was, what day it was and what they did. But his color and blood pressure was where it should be and he was getting his strenght back. The night before was a very long night for both Dennis and myself So Scott came over and let me go to the trailer and sleep and he stayed with Dennis all night until I got back in the morning.
They should be putting the other port in him today and getting his other port in today but it will not be until Saturday at them earliest before they start pulling the stem cells.
I left him at 10 before Kathy got up there but he seem find to day he even was sitting up and did get up out of bed to get is wieght taken which by they was he now is less than me

The night of April 27 was a very long night They couldn't get his blood count up it stay at 61over45 very low so they decided to give him some playlet where it was at 14 but is should be at least 15. So they gave him 2 units of blood starting at 2:39 in the morning and ending at 6:30 long night they also have given him 9 units of water. They was worried about his kidney shuting down but trust me when I say when his kidneys started up whew they work just fine. Right now he is getting a massage I'm not feeling to sorry for him right now.

with my brother at the UofU Hospital in SLc

I would like to start a blog of the account of my brother Dennis who has cancer and how things are going each day so as he gets better I can see the highs and low of the things he has to go throw to beat this.

He started up at the 1st of the week to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital to have his stem cell pulled out of him. But instead of having that done on Tuesday morning his son Scott had a hard time getting him out of the trailer and to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. When they got him to the nurse they said that no they was not going to get to put the port in for the drawing of the cell but they put him right into the hospital because his blood pressure was way to low. Which was a good thing he has sleep most all day long. Which he needed to do any. One of the concerns now that his kidney needs to get working normally and to get his blood pressure where it should be. He hasn't been drink enough liquids so they have liquids going into him pretty heavy.
Kathy has spent all day up here and now has headed home so that she can work her long day tomorrow. I will be staying up here tonight and all day tomorrow and tomorrow night until she gets back up here.
Last Wednesday they gave him a shot to help to build the stem cells in his blood stream and then tomorrow again they will try again. They need to collect about 2,000,000 stem cell to do the transplant which after they send him home for 2 week they will start that process which time he will be up here for 3 to 4 weeks or less depending on his recovery.

I have noticed with this process it all depends on him as to how they do thing they will tell us in general what should take place but we have found out it can and has changed of how his body reacts to things. We shouldn't be in the hospital but again they take very good care of him and make sure everything is where they need it to be to move forward.
If everything goes right, Tomorrow we are to get the port put in so that they can start Thrusday to pull out the stem cells. And hopefully he can came home next week.
With Kathy's help I will try and keep this up to date so that I can remember what is happen each day.
